Can I play with my friends?
It depends. WSLL has successfully run a baseball program for years without a buddy system. It helps to create more equally skilled teams rather than having one or two teams created that dominate other teams. Kids are always placed with two or three kids from their school; so they will always know someone on their team. In addition, the benefit is getting to know other kids and families in our community. WSLL often hears how kids would like to play with all of their friends. By the end of each season teams develop a strong bond and rarely has anyone had a bad experience because of the make-up of their team. The benefits of mixing up WSLL teams have outweighed a buddy system which can be gamed to a few teams’ advantage.

Are players placed on a team, or are they drafted?
At lower levels, players are placed on teams. At higher (older) levels, they are drafted onto teams. For more specific guidance on team formation, click here.
Do siblings play together?
If they are in the same division level, yes, unless there is a specific request not to do so.
Can I request to "play up"
Short answer: No, WSLL has a long-standing policy of not allowing players to elect to play higher than their designated LL age level. WSLL does allow families to opt for their children to play with their grade level. For specific guidance on team formation, , click here.
What is done to prevent the formation of "Super Teams"?
WSLL ranks player at the end of each season. By utilizing these rankings at both the draft and non-draft levels every attempt is made to create teams of parity.
